The first show of the year for Wolf Parade may not be in Montreal after all…They will be headlining the Wolfe Island Music Festival on Saturday, August 11th. Gates open at 12 noon. Here’s a little about the festival:
Established in 1999, the MusicFest, has been committed to bringing the best of independent Canadian music to Wolfe Island and to provide a unique and exciting showcase for local and national talent. The Wolfe Island MusicFest has made a reputation of featuring the best independent Canadian music. A community festival, proceeds go to the Wolfe Island Community Centre; improvements to the grounds including landscaping and ice-pad upgrades are some of the projects the festival funds.

“Things I Don’t Know”
Leaked
Wolf Parade won’t release a new album until latrer this year, but Canada’s answer to Modest Mouse has been road-testing new songs. The live version of the best, tentatively titled “Things I don’t Know,” starts off as a dark ballad, with frontman Spencer Krug calling himself a dumb-ass over intertwining guitar arpeggios and cool piano. As the song progresses, the band heats up into a noisy crescendo; if this is any indication, the new full-length will be worth the wait.
It appears that Wolf Parade would like to showcase some of the new material they have been working on. Rumors of possible live dates in August were circling around last week ,only to be confirmed yesterday. The band will be playing 3 shows at La Sala Rossa in Montreal, August 24-26th. I have been told the venue only holds about 220 people so get your tickets soon!

McSweeny’s Presents: The World Explained….
On April 10th members of Islands (Nick Thorburn, Jamie Thompson), Wolf Parade (Hadji Bakari, Dante Decaro), and Le Savy Fav’s (Syd Butler) formed what became Final Fantasy: Online aka Internet. They had fun and played a few covers and a few originals.
