Wolf Parade’s 4 nights of rock in their hometown of Montreal have now ended. I had a really great time in town, aside from getting to see 4 amazing shows. Each night was sold out, and each night fans came to hear new songs as well as old. The hometown crowd did not dissapoint and they cheered so loud on some nights that I felt like I was at madison square garden. The new songs just kept getting better, and by Monday it was clear that the new album is going to be absolutely amazing. Wolf Parade contiune their tour starting with another slot on the download festival in chicago on September 1st. Check the tour dates section for more info.
All four shows in Montreal were filmed by the two man team at trendwhore.ca. Check their site for more info.
The Handsome Furs have a new video for “Cannot Get Started” directed by Matt Moroz, Canadian directorial superstar and all around weird video maker. “Cannot Get Started” has its television debut this Sunday on MTV2’s Subterranean but you can see it now on the Subterranean Blog here.

Also it appears that Johnny and the Moon (Dante Decaro of Wolf Parade) and Magic Weapon(Jordan Robinson Cramer of Sunset Rubdown) will be the two opening acts for Sunset Rubdown’s tour in October. Magic Weapon will open from Montreal to Winnipeg and Johnny and the Moon will open from Boston to Victoria B.C. No word yet what other bands will be opening for the remainder of the tour. Thanks to James and snakes got a blog for the details.
Here are some reviews of the past few Wolf Parade shows in New York and Philadelphia:
A friend of mine spoke with Hadji Bakara at the show in Brooklyn, NY last week and he was told about the plans for the cover art of the upcoming Wolf Parade album. Apparently the idea is to have one side done by Matt Moroz and the other side by Elizabeth Huey and that the art will be a battle scene between the two artists. Matt Moroz has done artwork for Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade albums as well as videos for Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs.
Wolf Parade began their month long tour of the states yesterday at the Download Festival in Boston. They played 5 new songs that no one had ever heard before as well as 2 old favorites. Here is the setlist as it was written:

Just when you thought I couldn’t post another news item about the Handsome Furs…
First, there is a kick ass interview with both Dan and Alexei on brooklynvegan.com…Dan mentions that the Wolf Parade record is “about a week and a half away from being complete”.
The second bit of HF news is that they have debuted a brand new song in their live set called ‘Heaven’… Dan says: “this song is about Estonia”…
The video is from the recent August 1st show at La Sala Rossa in Montreal. The entire show was filmed and is up on youtube.com. La Sala Rossa is where Wolf Parade will be performing a 4 night residency from August 24th-27th.
