We thought their show in Toronto was going to be a one off, but it looks like Sunset Rubdown are getting in some more practice time before their big European tour. The band appear to be part of a party in Brooklyn called “The Secret Society”. The show is being sponsored by Boost Mobile and Jelly NYC. Jelly NYC are the promoters of the famous McCarren Park pool parties as well as other various NYC events. The show is on Thursday March 27th and will be held at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple. Tickets are on sale now for only $10.
I got an email the other day from this great group of guys called The Yellow Bird Project. They make and sell t-shirts which have been designed by bands and which all proceeds go to various charities. The Wolf Parade shirt was created with proceeds being donated to the Glass Casters Union. The design for the shirt came from a drawing Dan of Wolf Parade did for the Glass Casters Union. The organization creates limited edition recycled glass ornaments and all profits from the sale of the ornaments go back to their local community (Eugene, OR) in the form of assistance for homeless and low-income people through emergency services, housing, jobs, training, and other charitable endeavors. Eventhough they just returned a few months ago from a huge tour of Europe, it looks like Handsome Furs have been busy. U.S. tour dates have been listed recently on subpop.com, which is leading some to believe that a second record is either in the works or already completed.
