After the Junos

Dan and Alexei have returned from St John’s and posted all about their adventures over at HandsomeFurs.com. Alexei had this to say about their ordeal:

After nearly two days of battling unruly fog and snowy blizzards and volcanic ash (?), Dan and I made it to the Junos 2010. We were up for Best Alternative Album award but lost our nomination to the lovely folks in Metric. We were wholly stoked to see their success and their performance at the awards ceremony. Dope folks, truly. It was a thrilling and surreal experience for Dan and I to toss around cocktail shrimps and walk red carpets and pretend to be famous. A once in a lifetime experience for two fucked up bums like us. We had a really sublime time hanging out with Wintersleep and Land of Talk and Amy Millian and Sam Dunn, even if half of our time was spent in the Halifax airport or trying to land in St John’s! We also played a really riotous impromptu show at The Ship on Saturday since we couldn’t make it in time for our slot at Juno Fest. Thank you to you truly wonderful people who made it into that sweaty bar. We’ll be back.

Handsome Furs appear to have made it to St. Johns, Newfoundland after having trouble getting into town yesterday due to a heavy fog. They had to cancel their appearance last night at Club One as part of JunoFest. But fear not, Handsome Furs will perform tonight in St. Johns at The Ship Pub (265 Duckworth Street). According to sources on twitter the show tonight will feature Amy Millan at 11pm, Land of Talk at midnight and Handsome Furs at 1 a.m.

Edit- It appears that the award for Alternative Album of the Year has gone to Metric. Congrats again to Handsome Furs, we are immensely proud of you!

Chart Attack

This is the only decent video of one of the brand new songs from the Toronto show. The song has no official title but has been written on recent set lists as “Fast Ballad”.
