Finally the site is back! Thanks to our site admin Rin for clearing the site of malware! The forum is still being worked on and hope to have that up and running soon.
First thing to mention is Wolf Parade have put together a GoFundMe campaign to help those who suffered in Puerto Rico. Currently their goal is $10,000. For every show they are donating a pair of tickets to people to donate to the fund as well as a a signed vinyl.
I am helping that fund out as well by selling old Handsome Furs and Wolf Parade posters. Check my ebay page for more info.
Now for some updates! First big one is that Spencer Krug joined twitter (@krugspencer) and proceeded to drop some surprises. First he uploaded a lost track called Rasputo to his soundcloud page. Then he dropped an old version of All Fires that featured Camilla on back up vocals. Hope we get more surprises soon!
Wolf Parade added dates this year that have them doing a short stint of shows with Japandroids. Then they head to Europe. Also doing some festivals including Primavera and Sasquatch. Here’s the full list:
For those of you that don’t know, Dan wrote an original song called Floating World for the movie Adult World. The movie was directed by Scott Coffey who also directed the Handsome Furs video for ‘What About Us’ as well as Wolf Parade’s ‘Yulia’. The movie is soundtracked by many Handsome Furs songs and is currently available on Showtime in the US and to download from iTunes and Amazon Instant Video
Many people have emailed me asking for where to find the soundtrack. Sadly it was not released officially. Thankfully someone ripped ‘Floating World’ from the movie:
The folks at the CBP are having a sale on Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs merch!!
Store wide discounts at each store for 30% OFF between November 18th-December 8th. Promo will begin around noon of the 18th. No code is required as they’ll apply discount slashes directly to the store products.
The Polaris Prize folks are once again releasing split 7″ of paired up shortlist nominees. If you purchase any of the shortlist nominee’s CD’s or LP’s at any of the following locations, then you will be given a surprise 7″. We are unsure however if you can pick the 7″ you want. The press release states the 7″ will be unmarked.
The pairing we’re the most excited about is Handsome Furs/Grimes. Apparently golden tickets are the new cool thing because 5 golden tickets for two to this year’s Polaris Music Prize Gala happening in Toronto on September 24 will be randomly distributed inside the split 7” packages. Transportation and accommodation to Toronto are not included with the winning tickets. For more info check out PolarisMusicPrize.ca
