Spencer Krug, aka Moonface, has begun his short solo piano tour of North America. Having played in Rhode Island and Upstate New York already, tonight he will perform in Brooklyn, NY.
Some fans that have seen the previous two shows have said they are absolutely amazed at what Krug has put forth. He is performing several more live dates but there is no news of an official release. However, the performance in Rhode Island, at Machines with Magnets, was recorded live in their studio. Hopefully we will all get to hear that recording some day.
Hey everyone! I’m back from another tour with Diamond Rings who was out supporting the amazing OMD! Check out OMD’s new album, English Electric, it’s incredible!
In Moonface news…
Moonface (Spencer Krug) has added some additional shows to his solo piano tour! Here is the full set of dates:
The boys of DF have been rather busy this last month, with a short tour of the midwest and then playing the two weekends at Coachella. Dan spoke with the CBC about Coachella and the new band he’s formed called OPERATORS!
In addition to playing a slew of festivals in the coming months — including stops in Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, Calgary, Alta., and Squamish, B.C. — Boeckner is also working on a new project called Operators.
“It’s a real mix of like electronics and lots of live drums and guitar. I’m kind of tapping into my … I listened to a lot of Fugazi when I was a kid, so it’s that plus my love of New Order. That’s kind of how it’s shaking up.”
Yes, Dan has a brand new band! Hopefully we’ll get to hear about about this soon. You can read Dan’s interview with the CBC here
A know it’s a little late, but here’s some press from SXSW:

While it’s old news now, I forgot to post here about Spencer’s collaboration with The Besnard Lakes. Their new record, Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO will be released on April 2nd on Jagjaguwar.
From NPR:
The fourth album in 10 years from this Montreal-based band will also continue a tradition of odd titles. This one is called, Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO and features fellow Canadians Spencer Krug and Mike Bigelow of the band Moonface. Krug also played with Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. Sarah Page, the talented harpist who adds so much dimension to The Barr Brothers’ music, is also heard on this new album, along with the return of the Fifth String Liberation Singers’ Choir.
When asked about their thoughts on making this record, the band sent a joint email saying, “Themes of personal loss alongside Millenial ennui weave their way into the narrative of the record. 2012 has come and gone and the world still rotates on its ever precarious axis prompting the question: What next?”
Here’s a track listing for Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO.
1. 46 Satires
2. And Her Eyes Were Painted Gold
3. People Of The Sticks
4. The Specter
5. At Midnight
6. Catalina
7. Colour Yr Lights In
8. Alamogordo
