Bunch of news to report. First one being that Spencer has cancelled his Moonface tour for November. He posted a long message on his Facebook page that said :
“At first, they were supposed to be Moonface & Siinai shows, in support of My Best Human Face, but then: Flights! Logistics! Work visas for all those beautiful Finns!
It just wasn’t working…
So then, it was going to be a new idea altogether, a fresh take on some almost as fresh tunes, a sort of… surprise? But then: schedules, bands, boooring stuff…
That wasn’t going to work either.
So now, I’m postponing the whole run until next year. Shucks. Right now I’m thinking March / April, but I’m not positive on the dates yet, so anyone who already bought a ticket will be reimbursed.
And at this point I really don’t know what incarnation of Moonface will be on stage: with Siinai, or as the… surprise? Or something altogether different. I honestly can’t say.
For now, I’ll just say I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think it was necessary. I hate doing it though. I do.”
So here’s hoping we get more dates next year.
In other news, Dan Boeckner has lent his vocals to a track on the new Preoccupations record. The 11 minute track titled ‘Memory’ features Dan at the 4:27 mark.
Our last bit of news has Operators adding two new dates, Barcelona and Lisbon. Here’s the most current list of dates for Operators upcoming European Tour:
Wolf Parade’s next shows are in July. You can see the full list of dates on the tour page. They’ve added a few additional dates in September with no word of a more proper tour just yet. In fact, it looks like Wolf Parade will likely take a break after those September dates until 2017.
Speaking of Moonface, June 3rd was the release date for ‘My Best Human Face’ the second release with Finnish band Siinai. Congrats to Spencer and Siinai on another amazing record. You can purchase the new record as well as read a long journal post from Spencer about the record here. You can watch the video for ‘Risto’s Riff’ here.
Moonface and Siinai are performing a small set of dates starting tomorrow in Berlin. Check the tour page for full list of dates.
Operators have been long listed for this year’s Polaris Music Prize! Congrats to them!! The short list will be announced on July 14th!
Check out this full video stream from their performance for KEXP from this past April:
They’ve also added some festival dates this summer and fall including Camp Wavelength in Ontario on August 19th and Rifflandia on Vancouver Island on September 17th.
The band followed up the release with a quick 3 week tour that was filled with sold out shows and people losing their minds! Check out some live radio sessions they did along the way as well as photos and reviews from several shows across the tour:
