There's a four page WP spread in the new issue of Spin with Coldplay on the cover. I haven't read it yet, but I like the pictures a lot. I'd scan it if I knew how to work our scanner.
Right after the WP article, there's five pages of She & Him, too, if anyone else here likes them. I rarely see Spin devoting pages to any bands I really like, so this is a nice issue to end my subscription on.
By the way...does anyone else here subscribe to Harp Magazine? wtf happened with them? I just got a bankruptcy notice in the mail (and nearly had a heart attack when I saw my name on an envelope with the word "bankruptcy" on it). Edit: OK, so apparently they went under in March. I don't know how I didn't hear about it until now and why they waited to send me this notice until now, but whatever. |

| that is really interesting, 4 pages in a major magazine is a lot for them. I wonder if it's out in stores yet? Can you tell us a little of what is said in the article? Are there pictures? |

The article's actually rather boring, unfortunately, though there are some fun photographs of the band lounging around Hadji's house.
Much of it is band history, label talk, and beginners' Wolfology (like, you know, they have two singers: one sounds like this and the other sounds like that.) Must be geared towards an audience only vaguely familiar with the band, not to providing new junk for junkies like us
I'd have to say the three most interesting moments are when Hadji theorizes about how the Internet made them popular before they even had a record out ("The expectations were predicated on nothing!")
And when Dan and Spencer reveal a past fight over marketing strategies (Spencer wasn't so keen on the label's hyping of the band, while Dan remembered "growing up in a small town and watching sonic youth play Letterman... if you can get a public forum for an art project as fucking weird as Wolf Parade, then some kid in the middle of nowhere... who doesn't check the 'cool blogs' ... thinks, "Wow, these idiots are just like me and my friends. I could do this!")
And when the band tries to figure out what the hell they've been served at a Chinatown restaurant during the interview --
"It's a funky aperitif!" says Bakara.
"It's a clitoris mushroom," offers Boeckner. _________________ hey there, i'm Jay.

It sounds like a pretty standard promo article, thanks for giving us the details. I figured it would be mostly a biography with an emphasis on the new record, nothing we didn't already know. I called my local book store and they said it wasn't in yet..and that it would probably be there on tuesday...
Seems like the band was pretty candid with spin, which is something I didn't think they would do. |

not sure if these stay up or not but heres the spin article. I think its pretty neat actually, though they seem eager to jump on the dan vs. spencer thing a bit.

| I think it's actually pretty clever, except it appears to relegate Wolf Parade to some kind of third generation tribute band. |

I agree with Maria, the title is quite dumb to me. _________________ barricuda.

I think they were trying too hard to be witty. Surely, they could have come up with something that didn't reference two other completely unrelated bands? _________________ This is where I put my music photos. |

They're at Spencer's apartment, yeah?
What books those? I could only make out Pynchon, but I didn't know what book. ( V?) Must find out. _________________ Oh, but enough about me. |

actually, there's more than one Pynchon on the shelf
the big one is Vineland, next to it is another Pynchon, Slow Learner, then Ratner's Star by Don DeLillo
and this pastel green one might be another Pynchon...
I can't really make out the rest, only bits that don't give me enough clue
yeah, I like taking a look at someone's library |

Hahahaha this line by Spencer made me laugh out loud, literally!
"I was told when I moved in a couple months ago that the neighbor downstairs is deaf. She is not." (when Spencer is saying he's in the process of having his place soundproofed) |
