the show was AMAZING! i think from my posts on this board it's apparent that i am of the krug persuasion (what can i say, i dig accordions and marimba) but dan may be my new hero, and alexei my heroine. so much energy and audience dance parties galore.

the best part though, the two of them are just so HUMBLE and seemed genuinely honored that so many folks came out to see them. alexei kept putting her hands to her heart as if she couldn't believe where she was...it's just so great to see bands that truly appreciate what they've achieved, and to see audiences having such a good time...everybody wins.

and they are just so fricking CUTE and lovely together. at one point they touched foreheads and gave each other big happy excited faces - it was such an "awwww" moment (who knew dan boeckner was capable of soliciting an "aw?")

also - props to maria, the queen of the merch table, and co.! i had so much fun hanging out with you guys.

What an amazing show. i loved watching the crowd go crazy and jumping up and down at the same time as alexei. I think this was their best NYC show for sure!

It was really great to meet fellow formers last night. We need to have a non show meet up soon!

I went to both shows and both were just phenomenal. Their energy & chemistry on stage is totally infectious and engaging. I thought the crowd at the Bowery show was a little more excited and engaged - which makes sense, given pre-sale tickets were available to that show - but it might've just been where I was standing at MHOW. I was ecstatic both times.

Handsome Furs are hands down one of the most generous rock acts on the circuit. Every show is brimming with nervous energy and love; their shows would be corny if they weren't so unassailably sincere. It's rare, and hugely refreshing, in a post-everything, HipsterRunoff world, to find something that feels really honest and real, and for my money there's no one out there doing it better right now. I was gushing (about the Bowery show) to friends who I convinced to join me at MHOW about how great Handsome Furs shows are, and I told them "You know, I would feel bad, I don't want to be overstating the case for how great this show will be, but it will be. You'll just see when they come out." Needless to say, they did, and everyone had an unparalleled time.

So, thanks for the great shows. New York love Handsome Furs. Please come back soon!
