So it’s been awhile since we’ve posted an update. Here’s some news:
Operators have been nominated for the 2015 Canadian SirusXM Indie Awards for Electronic Artist or Group of the Year. The awards are handed out on May 9th in Toronto during Canadian Music Week. Congrats to Operators on their nomination!
A little late to mention but the Operators song “True” was featured in the season finale of the HBO series “Girls” that aired on March 22nd. Congrats!!
Dan Boeckner is set to be a 2015 CBC Music Searchlight judge. Searchlight is “the hunt for Canada’s best new artist”. Searchlight judges will be responsible for selecting five of the 10 national finalists, as well as announcing the final four acts live on Q on CBC Radio ?on May 12. Finally, they’ll crown a winner on Friday, May 15. If you’re Canadian you can check out the 3,000+ entries and vote on them: http://music.cbc.ca/#!/cbcsearchlight/
As most of you are already aware, Operators had to cut their tour with The New Pornographers short due to visa issues. Hoping to hear new music from them soon. Follow them on twitter ( @operators_band) in the meantime.
Speaking of social media…I’ve decided to start an instagram account for this fan site. Just a place to share photos of Wolf Parade, Operators, Moonface and all the bands that we love! Follow along! Also feel free to DM us photos you’ve taken of these bands and we’ll post them!
Operators are currently on tour supporting The New Pornographers. The tour stopped in Toronto recently and Operators made an appearance on CBC Radio Q to perform Cold Light and True. Check out Cold Light below:
2015 is going to be amazing! It’s the 10 year anniversary of the release of ‘Apologies to the Queen Mary’, and in leading up to September 27th I’ll be looking back and celebrating.
Operators are starting 2015 off right with lotts of tour dates, including support slots with both Future Islands and The New Pornographers. You can read some recent interviews with Dan over at Diffuser.FM and Huffington Post Canada.
